Switzerland Ski Trips
Most skiers can picture the Matterhorn when they think of skiing in
Switzerland. Indeed Zermatt is the ultimate Swiss ski destination; reached
exclusively by train (no cars allowed), with towering peaks, open snowy slopes, mountainside chalets
serving lunch, and delightful village with fine ski hotels, great pubs like
the Hotel Post
for après ski, and delicious cuisine of Swiss fondue and raclette. Most amazing are the views of the magnificent Matterhorn at 14,693-feet as you ski
these incomparable slopes.
Switzerland’s Jungfrau region offers even more grand Swiss Alps skiing, from
Grindewald’s extensive terrain, to Wengen and even Mürren, all of which are
interconnected with lift access and a regional "ski Oberland" lift ticket. The world famous Piz Gloria, featured in a
James Bond film, at Shilthorn Mountain’s 9,744’ summit offers panoramic
dining serviced by cable car, and you can ski down these Bernese Oberland
Alps - pretend you are in the Inferno Race, which started here in 1928, that descends
10 miles (in about 15 minutes race time).
St. Moritz, part of the beautiful Engadin Valley of Switzerland, is famous
for its charming village and excellent skiing including the
Diavolezza glacier.
St Moritz's tallest peak at 10,836-feet offers the longest run over
10 kilometers to the village. St Moritz is popular amongst wealthy skiing
families- for its very modern lifts and over 350 kilometers of ski runs plus
extensive off-piste, even heli-skiing, and the delightful Swiss ski town at
the base with top ski hotels, shopping and restaurants.
