

Kirkwood just 35 miles south of Heavenly, is one of Tahoe’s more
challenging mountains. With the highest base elevation at 7,800',
Kirkwood gets the deepest, driest snow on its double black diamond
terrain. Kirkwood is known amongst experts for serious steep and
deep including the legendary “Wall.” However, Kirkwood has ample
lower mountain terrain to lure families to the 2,300-acre ski area.
A modest base are serves skier needs, and a friendly local crowd
convenes at Kirkwood. They call it the K factor. Kirkwood has just
been purchased by Vail resorts, making this Vail's third Lake Tahoe
resort in good company with Heavenly and
Northstar at Tahoe. So look for upgrades
to Kirkwood ski lifts and multi resort pass and lift ticket deals
for the Tahoe trifecta.
